Let’s face it: the process of building will never be finished – even though this it how many architects seem to go about. More unbuilding could be potentially healthy! It opens questions of need, of choice and of agency. What do we want here? What do we need? And for how long will we have to live with it? Unbuilding creates space to start again from scratch. A new sand castle to step onto. A new house of cards to blow away...

Making use of the vastness of midsummer boulevard - you can finally go about and take out a building. Just to test it. To see if it fits the location. You can build your own. You can describe it, so others can build it again. You can also just lend it to take it down. No hard feelings.

The Library of Structures is a living archive that invites you to try, build and unbuild designs. It allows intervention wherever people feel it is needed and wherever it can be tolerated by officials. The archive will be a playful narration of what people want, or what they can imagine. Or what they love taking down most.

Library of Structures is made possible through the Building Game Just Add People - a playful tool for prototyping spaces as a means of reflecting on and advancing relationships – between people, people, objects and environments. As experts in game design, space design, architecture and social urban practices, our work is informed interdisciplinarily. Just Add People expresses our wish to open up gameful architecture to a broader audience.
